Chloe P. Moody DEd, PA (ASCP)

Chloe Padasak Moody joined JHP in August 2023 after meeting Dr. Hammers at the Indiana County Coroner's Office. Before stepping into this role, she spent several years in surgical pathology, working for both UPMC and Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh since 2017. Throughout her career in these health systems, she was drawn to autopsy pathology, making it her "home" whenever possible. Training new students and residents in autopsy work became a passion, allowing her to refine her technical skills while deepening her knowledge of disease mechanisms and cause-of-death determinations. This experience further solidified her commitment to forensic pathology.

Her fascination with pathology and forensics started long before her professional career. Growing up, she was inspired by her father, who wore many hats—paramedic, funeral director, and chief deputy coroner, to name a few. Watching him navigate these roles instilled in her a deep appreciation for the intersection of medicine, death investigation, and emergency response. Naturally, she took pieces of his career and shaped her own path, spending 15 years in emergency services and quickly advancing from EMT to paramedic. The critical thinking, patient care, leadership, and ability to make a meaningful impact in high-pressure situations were aspects she deeply valued.

A defining moment came when she first accompanied her father to the funeral home. Stepping into the embalming room, she was struck not by fear but by curiosity—how had that person died? Her mind raced with questions, setting her on a path to transition from first responder to last responder. The time spent alongside her father at the funeral home fueled her passion for understanding the human body and the circumstances surrounding death.

Academically, she pursued this passion by earning a bachelor's degree in natural sciences with a minor in biology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). She then continued her studies at West Virginia University (WVU), obtaining a Master of Health Science as a Pathologists' Assistant. A lifelong learner, she thrives in hands-on, experiential education—one of the many reasons forensic autopsy work is such a natural fit.

With a continued thirst for knowledge, Chloe returned to IUP to pursue a doctorate in education, focusing on curriculum and instruction, where she successfully obtained her Doctorate in 2025. This milestone will support her future academic endeavors, including efforts with Jenn and the team to establish a Pathologists’ Assistant program in Pittsburgh.

Outside of her professional and academic pursuits, she cherishes time with family and those closest to her—especially the ones who call her "Mom." Whether embracing new adventures, staying active, or building a fulfilling life with her husband, Austin, and their twins, Keni and Kane, she finds the greatest joy in the moments shared with loved ones.
