Elizabeth Beam, MHS, PA(ASCP)
Elizabeth Beam is a certified Pathologists’ Assistant with specialized expertise in both surgical and forensic pathology. She holds a Master of Health Science in Pathologists’ Assistant studies from Loma Linda University and a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Science with a concentration in Allied Health from Saint Vincent College.
She began her forensics journey early, inspired by crime shows and a family member, JHP’s very own Sarah, who worked in autopsy services. This passion led her to intern at the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office and later shadow a Pathologists’ Assistant at Allegheny General Hospital (AGH), where she set her sights on becoming a PA. During her undergraduate years, she worked in the cadaver lab at Saint Vincent College, assisting surgeons with demonstrations involving surgical robotics. She also gained clinical laboratory experience as a specimen processor and medical laboratory technician with UPMC.
While completing her graduate training, she rotated at the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office, reaffirming her commitment to forensic pathology. She has since returned to AGH as a Pathologists’ Assistant, where she performs complex surgical grossing, frozen section procedures, autopsies, and contributes to the education of residents and PA students. In 2023, she joined Jennifer Hammers Pathology as a forensic PA, continuing to pursue her passion within a collaborative forensic team.
Outside of her professional career, Elizabeth values time with her husband and daughter, and enjoys travel, outdoor activities, and creating meaningful experiences with loved ones.
