Sarah Boring, BSc, Certified Autopsy Technician

Sarah Boring is a highly experienced autopsy technician with over 12 years of dedicated service in the field of forensic pathology. A graduate of Carlow University, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Concentration in Human Biology in 2011 and went on to receive her Certification in Autopsy Technology. Sarah brings deep technical expertise, steady professionalism, and a genuine passion for advancing forensic science through hands-on work, education, and mentorship.

Throughout her career, Sarah has contributed meaningfully to the profession’s academic landscape. She is a co-author on two articles published by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), a College of American Pathologists (CAP) abstract, and a National Association of Medical Examiners (NAME) abstract—an achievement she proudly presented at NAME’s 2024 national conference. In addition to her written contributions, Sarah has presented guest lectures alongside Dr. Jennifer Hammers on topics including blunt force trauma and forensic autopsy photography, further exemplifying her commitment to education and professional development.

Sarah is known among colleagues for her reliability, attention to detail, and her willingness to mentor both new technicians and students entering the field. She thrives in high-pressure environments and brings an unshakable calm and competence to even the most complex cases. While she doesn’t claim a specific forensic subspecialty as her favorite, she is particularly enthusiastic about the precision and storytelling potential of photographic documentation in the postmortem setting.

Outside the autopsy suite, Sarah leads a life as lively and multifaceted as her professional one. She coaches her daughter’s ice hockey team, finds peace kayaking local waters, and channels creativity through sewing. At home, she proudly wears the badge of a “cringe” mom—embracing humor and heart in equal measure. She lives with her husband, their two children, two dogs, a tank of freshwater fish, a leopard gecko, and four cherished chickens, each adding a bit of joy and chaos to her world.
